Nancy Berlin, former director of the California Partnership and project coordinator of the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger & Homelessness, has joined the staff of the California Association of Nonprofits as Project Director. Nancy will be based in CalNonprofits' Los Angeles office located in the California Endowment building.

Nancy is a well known to the California nonprofit and advocacy community through her leadership in advocacy in Sacramento and throughout California. Recognitions include Outstanding Public Citizen of  the Year Award from the California  Chapter of the National Association of  Social Workers and the Community  Building and Justice Award from Alexandria House. She is co-editor of How to Get Food and Money: The People's Guide to Welfare and Other Services.

"Nancy has a rare ability to work successfully across the political spectrum," commented Jan Masaoka, CEO at CalNonprofits. "It's an honor for us to have someone of her integrity and commitment to telling the truth as well as to practical solutions. Her background in community organizing is a perfect fit with us as we work to organize the nonprofit community for joint, effective action.”

As Project Director for CalNonprofits, Nancy is part of a team working on many efforts, including lobbying and policy work with the state legislative and administrative branches; and Vote with Your Mission, the CalNonprofits initiative to encourage nonprofits to mobilize their staff, volunteers and constituents as voters.

Participants in the August 1 CalNonprofits annual policy convention in Los Angeles will have a chance to meet Nancy; the event features keynoter Judy Belk of The California Wellness Foundation and the release of the first-ever economic impact report on California's nonprofit sector.
