CalNonprofits Articles

The California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits) is seeking nominations of qualified individuals to serve on the Board of Directors. Board members represent CalNonprofits and are advocates for its mission and activities. Responsibilities include governance and leadership of the organization’s programs and activities. CalNonprofits board members reflect the various landscapes in which California nonprofits operate, and advocate for and with its members and the state's 501(c)(3) organizations.

Nominees must be employed by or volunteer for a CalNonprofits member organization. Candidates will be elected on the ballot to be distributed on May 31, 2017 with elections closing on June 21, 2017.

Interested applicants should provide the information as outlined in “How to submit a nomination” below. Nominations must be received by May 15, 2017 for consideration.
For questions or more information, please contact Dishauna Castro.

CalNonprofits is a 501(c)(3) statewide policy alliance that brings nonprofits together to advocate for the communities we serve. We seek a wide spectrum of committed candidates representing California’s nonprofit sector. Self-nominations are welcome. Every board member must participate as an active officer of the board or as a member of a committee or task force. They are expected to participate in all scheduled board meetings including three in-person meetings and three conference call meetings. Board terms are three years; board members may serve no more than two consecutive terms.

CalNonprofits’ Board Election Process
Two-thirds of CalNonprofits’ Board of Directors are elected by the CalNonprofits members and the board appoints the remaining one-third of the seats.

The Board Nominating Committee will carefully consider all nominations. In addition to being selected as a nominee by the Nominating Committee, a person may also be nominated by a petition signed by two percent (2%) of the voting membership. A person wanting to add their name to the ballot through petition should contact CalNonprofits no later than May 15th to receive specific written instructions.

On May 31, 2017, ballots will be electronically delivered to those members with email addresses in their member profiles and sent via U.S. Postal Service to those without email addresses. Voting will close on June 21, 2017 and a notice will be sent to all members by July 6, 2017 with the election results.
